alt.ai announces EMETH GPU POOL, a new service to open up GPU computing resources to everyone
A platform that supports the transition from Web2 to Web3, supporting the infrastructure of a new era
alt Inc. (https://alt.ai/en/), the Japan-based developer and distributor of Personal Artificial Intelligence (P.A.I.®️) and AI clone technology (head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kazutaka Yonekura) and EMETH FOUNDATION PTE. LTD. (head office: SINGAPORE, hereinafter referred to as EMETH Association) are pleased to announce EMETH GPU POOL, which provides AI services and basic technologies as well as GPU computing resources that are as indispensable as the foundation that supports them.

EMETH GPU POOL
EMETH GPU POOL is Japan's first service for hosting personal GPU resources, which can also be rented by the hour. On the centralized platform, both the borrower and the lender can utilize various functions.
Users can start using the service immediately after registration and can set up instances and rent VMs by the hour. Similar to conventional Web2 services, we provide an easy-to-use platform and support quality that can withstand corporate use.
Development background and development philosophy
GPU computing resources are used not only to develop AI models but also to develop VR, AR, virtual spaces, etc., and are an important resource that supports the infrastructure of the AI era. However, concerns have arisen about shortages as demand increases. As the number of situations in which AI is used is rapidly increasing, alt has been searching for ways to conduct research and development while minimizing infrastructure investment and costs. We became aware of the fact that major infrastructure providers were increasing their price offerings with growing demand—while at the same time a large number of unused GPUs exist—and we began looking at how to leverage these resources and put as many as possible to practical use.
Even if a resource is inefficient on its own, when combined with others, it can provide sufficient computing power to meet a larger demand. In order to create a completely distributed computer—the aim of our EMETH distributed computing platform project—it is essential to collect and utilize these resources. Therefore, we decided to create a large aggregate (POOL) on the Web2 side and create a GPU aggregate.
Started in 2018, the EMETH project aims to develop a full-scale distributed computer using Web3 technology. In order to realize a truly distributed computer, it is necessary to educate developers and increase demand at the same time, and with the DePIN boom starting at the end of 2023, we have finally found a way to get back on track.
alt feels that there is a need for a platform that supports the transition from Web2 to Web3. This demand will increase as we move from the world of Web2 to the era of Web3, and new demands will be created one after another.

EMETH is one of the distributed computing, and the distributed computing project that aims to create a new economic cycle by matching individuals and companies in need of computer computing power with personal gaming PCs, data center servers, and other resources, providing value to unused and vacant resources.
One example of usage of EMETH is as a means of providing computing power, which is essential for running AI. A job that requires large-scale computational resources can be divided, and the results of the computation can be requested to a complex of PCs and servers, called a node, which is connected to the EMETH platform.
The cost of obtaining the results of this calculation will be equitably distributed based on EMETH's automatic contract for the distribution of compensation and on the balance between supply and demand. For this reason, it is anticipated that this service can be provided at a reduced cost compared to that of utilizing existing cloud servers.
On the client side, computing power can be secured at a low cost, and on the node side (the provider of computing power), even free resources and older GPU machines can join the node and receive rewards by making available a certain level of computing power.
The EMETH Association has begun providing an environment for those who wish to contribute computing power to EMETH, as well as the recruitment and support of participating nodes. EMETH was launched in 2018 as a new form of distributed computing, proposing the provision of computing power-only resources and to start providing truly equitable computing resources. Full-scale development is underway, and the EMETH Association was established in 2023 as a body of experts responsible for the release of EMETH and the development of its early community. The association will operate as a consortium-type organization focused on providing forward-thinking leadership for the distributed community.
In 2024, the establishment of EMETH FOUNDATION PTE. LTD., a Singaporean corporation, will be completed to encourage global expansion and participation in the association.
