Alt Inc. ( Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Kazutaka Yonekura), the company that develops the Personal Artificial Intelligence (P.A.I.) software “al+”, will present its latest research results on Fine-Grained Named Entity Recognition at ACL 2017 (the Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics), the world’s most prestigious conference on Natural Language Processing, being held from July 30th (Sunday) to August 4th (Friday) in Vancouver, Canada.
al+ Fine-Grained Named Entity Recognition (al+ FG_NER) is a technology for Natural Language Processing that is a result of the research collaboration between Alt Inc. and Associate Professor Satoshi Sekine of New York University. When comparing al+ FG_NER to the general Named Entity Recognition technologies, it successfully expands the number of recognized categories to a very large number while maintaining high precision. This research result is therefore accepted for presentation at ACL 2017.
We believe that the presentation at ACL 2017 will help Alt Inc. to not only improve its viral in academia but also promote its possibility in the AI industry.

About Mr. Satoshi Sekine
Ph.D. (Computer Science)
Associate Professor at New York University
Graduated from the Dept. of Applied Physics, Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1987. In 1992, obtained master’s degree from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. In 1998, obtained Ph.D. degree from New York University. Starting from 1998, became an assistant professor in New York University. In 2007, promoted to an associate professor in New York University.
Research Interest: Natural Language Processing, and its background in Linguistics.
